Pharaoh's Tomb Freeware Release Notes - March 2009
Pharaoh's Tomb is (c)1990/2009 Apogee Software, Ltd.
------------------------------------------------------

This game was deleted from Apogee's product line quite
some time ago, and has been re-released as freeware in
March of 2009. Back in the earliest days of Apogee in
the 1980's George Broussard wasn't always involved with
the company. He and Scott Miller were always friends,
but in the 80's, they had separate companies. George's
was called Micro/FX. He produced a few titles on his
own from those days, Pharaoh's Tomb was one of them.
When George joined on to Apogee Software, his Micro/FX
titles were rolled into the Apogee product line.

That's about all the backstory to this one there really
is. Even by the other freeware releases from us, this
one is seriously old, so much so that we don't even know
when it was officially released, the best our archival
notes say were "Unknown 1990", although the original
Micro/FX release would have been in the late 80's somewhere.

1) We offer no support in helping to getting this freeware
release running. YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN HERE. DON'T ASK US -
YOU WILL BE IGNORED. :)

2) This game was released before Windows 2000 & Windows XP
(or Vista, or even Windows 95) were released, and as such,
these more modern operating systems might have issues in
running the game. A third party program called DOSBox has
been known to have been helpful in getting the game running.
You can obtain DOSBox here: http://www.dosbox.com

3) This game is released as freeware. That's not to be
confused with public domain, abandonware (which is
illegal), or releasing something under the GPL.
This is a freeware release, which means we retain full legal
rights to the title and it's materials. You are free to play
the game as we've released it, but not free to "do whatever
you want with it", which includes selling it or otherwise
using the materials in other projects.

Traditionally, in the past, when we have released freeware,
we've gotten the original developer to say a few words about
the release. This won't be the case with Tomb. When
questioned about this, George's response was "There's only
six people who will care about this." ;) Seriously, he was
gracious enough to let the game be released as freeware, but
didn't have anything to say about it.

We'd be remiss if I didn't mention the best thing about this
game. To our knowledge it's the only game in history anywhere
where the developer mispelled his own name. George spelled his
name Broussad in the title screen. What's more amusing about
that is that the final release of the game was v3.0, which
means he updated it twice and still didn't fix it.

Enjoy Pharaoh's Tomb!
