On New Year's Day 1993, id Software, who were hot off the heel's of Wolf 3D, had written that they expected Doom to be "the number one cause of decreased productivity in businesses around the world". In the terms of the busness world, this was quite a brave statement to make; Doom could have backfired in the faces of the devs, and make them look quite the fools
. Saying that your upcoming game would not only be a hit, but also stop people from working, was a move that only a pizza-fed, metal-head, action-movie-loving company like id could possibly ever pull off sucessfully.
It is then, almost quite funny, that such a mod like GTWY2000.WAD would have been made - after all, it wad made for the sake of a computer hardware company. Gateway 2000 (later just called Gateway in October 1998) was an American computer hardware company that was based in South Dakota, and then later California. Gateway developed, manufactured, supported, and marketed a wide range of personal computers, computer monitors, servers, and computer accessories from 1985, until 2007, when it was acquired by Acer, for a sweet $710 million.
GTWY2000.WAD was probily a WAD that was made for people to share within the compiny of Gateway
For a WAD that was probily made for people who had never played a second of Doom, it is quite hard at times, the Ultra-Violence skill level seems to be somewhat of a joke, as on the opining street part of the map, there are a number of cyberdemoons, one spidermastermind, and of cause, an archvile, all while there are numarus of power-ups.

NOTE: I TAKE ABSOLUTELY NO CREDIT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THIS WAD!
THAT GOES TO THE ORIGINAL CREATORS, WHO OR WHEREVER THEY MAY BE NOW!
This wad was originally given to my father during
his time working at Gateway Computers from 1997 to
2002. The wad was developed by employees of the
company and they gave it to my dad for us to play.
Besides this copy I have, this wad has never been
uploaded anywhere on the internet, making it
probably one of the rarist Doom mods.
